Budget Cuts or a Load of Crap?

The lovely state I live in has been the first to U.S. state to suspend its 2012 presidential preference primary election. This was signed into law by Governor Christine Gregoire (D)due to budget constraints. Do not confuse this with the actual election for the president, this is just the primaries. So basically what this means for Washington voters this year is that WE WILL NOT BE RECEIVING a Presidential Preference Primary Ballot in the mail.

Coming from a state that did go vote at an actual location, this does not seem like a big deal, however, I believe that this is just a tactic to restrict voting. For many people it will be hard to get time off work, wait in line (believe me there will be a line, if people know what to do and where to go). In my home state it took somewhere between 1-2 hours to vote. And I believe this will be worse, because Washington is not familiar with this process. Really Ms.  Gregoire is this really saving money?
So to get the information out on the table here it is Republican Precinct Caucuses are being held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in ten locations around Clark County

Here is the bottom line for any registered voter in Clark County that would like to have the opportunity to state their preference for the Republican Presidential Nominee...there will be no ballot arriving in your mailbox....you must do so by attending your local caucus. The Clark County Republican Party had no involvement in the decision to cancel the Presidential Primary mail ballot. This was a decision made by the Legislature and approved by the Governor. Again WE THANK YOU MS. GREGOIRE!

About the Caucuses

You live in a voting "precinct". Each location will have as many as 10 - 30 precincts meeting in what is called a Caucus Cluster. If you do not know your precinct go to this website http://wei.secstate.wa.gov/olvrsite/  Or call  360-397-2345

Below is a list of 10 Republican Precinct Caucus locations. Your "all volunteer" Clark County Republican Party has organized and financed these caucuses for your participation. We hope you will attend and be part of this very important political process. Our State and our Nation are counting on your participation! It is extremely important that you Vote!
Registration at each location will start at 9:00 AM, followed by a presidential candidate preference poll, issues discussions and the election of delegates (and alternate delegates in the event the delegate is unable to fulfill their committment). There is no cost to attend the caucuses.

ABOUT THE REPUBLICAN STATE & NATIONAL CONVENTIONS

The Republican State Convention will be held in Tacoma, WA on May 30 - June 2, and the Republican National Convention in Tampa. FL August 27- 30. This year, Clark County has been allocated 94 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates, elected at the county convention to the state convention, with three delegates and Alternates elected there to the national Convention from the 3rd Congressional District.

WSRP State Chair Kirby Wilbur believes Republicans are likely to turn out in record numbers for both the Caucuses and County Conventions with the likelihood of electing a Republican Governor and picking up numerous state house and senate seats in 2012. With redistricting and early organizing, Republicans can possibly locally pick up two state house seats.
